Pictures from Leg 5 are now online!
We completed Leg 5 of the 'Dorset 100' on Sunday 14 January, so we have now covered 67km of the 100kM we are intending to hike for the scouting centenary!
The ‘Dorset 100' is a challenge we devised to celebrate 100 years of scouting. Recently all Scout groups were invited to organise challenges, activities and competitions based on the theme of 100. The ‘Dorset 100' is just that. Our scouts are attempting to hike 100 kilometres around Dorset in the 12 months leading up to 1 August 2007.
Clearly this is not a target most people would attempt to reach in one go. So to make it possible to complete, it is run in conjunction with our normal training for the ‘Order Of The Boot' competition. It is broken down into 8 legs. Starting in Christchurch, you can follow the progress of the scouts here.
You may think this is crazy, trying to hike 100km and not even get sponsorship. Well simply, why not? We have done many hikes for many years for training, so why not give it more of a purpose?
